Main material: Banana Fiber

Our wall decors are made from plant fibres. They therefore wonderfully smell and feel like nature.

Banana fibers are fibers from the layered trunks of agricultural banana trees. The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic strands, which are about 6 mm thick. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This gives these useful plants a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust starting material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji.

When selecting our local producers, we value fair pay and good working conditions. Only adult and experienced artisans work in the companies from which we purchase our goods.
